Overview
If you’ve ever thought that you would be an awesome entrepreneur but have never had the chance to actually get started, then this is for you! Young Entrepreneurs of America is looking for 10 students who are serious about starting their own business this summer. You provide the work (minimum 30 hours a week) and we will provide you with the idea (if necessary), free startup capital, a seasoned mentor, and a series of seminars designed specifically to help you build your own company and earn thousands of dollars this summer!
Submission Requirements
The requirements for this award are loosely structured and open to a variety of interpretation. Feel free to get creative and really sell yourself as a hungry, talented entrepreneur. The application itself will consist of two parts.
Part One: A completed, signed copy of the “Startup Summer - Student Application”
Part Two: (Essay - 1,000 words maximum) Provide an example of a challenge you’ve had within the past two years where you’ve failed at something. Explain the circumstances surrounding the challenge, what efforts you made in trying to succeed, and why you think you failed. What was the most important thing you learned from this experience? Provide an example of a challenge you’ve had within the past two years where you’ve succeeded at something important. Explain the circumstances surrounding the challenge, what efforts you made in trying to succeed, and why you think you succeeded. What was the most important thing you learned from this experience? Finally, based on the two previous experiences, explain why you think you would be a successful entrepreneur.
Process and Timeline
All applicants should submit electronic versions of all four required documents to info@yeabiz.com on or before 4/30/08. Winners will be notified individually and a complete list of finalists will be posted on the YEA website on 5/31/08. Please let us know if you have any questions or comments.
Eligibility: All applications must be high school age or younger and be permanent residents of the United States. Applications should be submitted electronically to info@yeabiz.com and must be received before April 30, 2008. All materials for the application must be the student’s own work and must include a signed copy of the “Student Application”.
